The New Year is just about here! That means an extra crowded gym filled with a bunch of newbies. It is most annoying to the hardcore group that works out year round and doesn’t welcome a bunch of new people hogging up the equipment. Don’t worry though, because this phenomenon lasts about a month or so, and most people will stop their new years resolutions.
If you really want to make your new year fitness resolutions work this year, you need a plan. You can’t just say that you are going to work out and get in shape. Ideally, you have already found a diet and workout routine and started early. If you just jump in there and attempt to adopt a fitness lifestyle without doing any research, it’s most likely destined for failure.
So many people have good intentions for new years resolutions, and only a very small percentage of people stick to their plans. For my fitness goals this year, I am going to get one level up from where I have been. I have maintained in the 12-15% bodyfat for many, many years, but I am shooting to get just a little leaner and a little bigger. When you have been working out for 25+ years, it is tough to make improvements.
The plan I will be following is Kris Gethin’s 8 week hardcore trainer which debuts on January 2nd. I have no idea what the workouts will be like this time, since it has not been released. One thing I do know is that his other workouts are killer workouts, and have given me some great results. Being 40 now, they high volume training really works well. My injuries are way down, and I am actually able to lift more weight than I have done in years. I am excited to try this new program and see what 2017 brings me.
Hopefully you have a fitness goal for the New Year. This IS the time to start, and you will get a head start on getting in the best possible shape for the summer. What is your 2017 Fitness Goals? Let us know in the comments below!
