For many years, I have taken a pre-workout supplement before I hit the gym. Since I workout first thing in the morning, it’s the one thing that can take me from sleepy to beast mode in 15 minutes. I have literally tried dozens of them, and over the years I have stuck with three in particular that I liked the best: BSN No-Xplode, Cellucor C4 EXtreme and 1MR Vortex. NoXplode, in particular, was my favorite. After taking it for many years, I started to get stomach issues. Cramps, bloating, diarrhea, pain and would be pretty lethargic from all of this later in the day. I narrowed it down by process of elimination, and found it was my pre-workout that was doing it.
So, I quite pre-workouts completely. My stomach problems were gone, but so was part of my motivation at the gym. My quest to find a pre-workout that didn’t kill my stomach was on. I sampled dozens more pre-workouts, as there must be near 100 on the market. The one that I found that gave me a pretty good pump and energy without twisting my stomach sideways was USP Labs Jack3d. This pre-workout comes in two varieties: Jack3d Advanced Formula and Jack3d Micro. Like most people, I assumed the Advanced Formula was the newer, better one, however they are both for slightly different purposes. The Advanced Formula is more for strength, and the Micro is more for pumps. Truth be told, I can’t really tell the difference between the two. Both give me a good pump, energy and increased strength from the energy boost. Jack3d Advanced Formula is a little cheaper, so I usually go that route. The nice thing about both of these supplements is the ingredients list. Take a look and you will see that there are only a handful of ingredients, particularly in the Jack3d Micro. They are using a minimalist formula that actually works, which is great for your stomach since you won’t be ingesting unnecessary ingredients that can wreak havoc on your stomach!
If you have had stomach problems with pre-workouts, I highly recommend Jack3d Advanced Formula and Jack3d Micro. Let me know in the comments below if these work for you, or what pre-workouts you recommend that don’t turn your stomach!
